Obelisk performing at the Black Box Theatre in the Jewellery Quarter
My neighbour’s son is a member of the band Obelisk.
They performed a Halloween gig at The Black Box Theatre in The Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham.
The gig was good, but so was the venue, a converted ammunition factory, one of the many interesting buildings in The Jewellery Quarter.
Drone show at Edgbaston Stadium
The drone show, ‘Evolution’, at Edgbaston Stadium in October 2024 started off with a drone race. The two drones were being controlled by operatives standing close by.
After the drone race, the main event started. A portrayal of the evolution of the Earth from the formation of the Milky Way Galaxy to the present day. Over 600 drones were flying in unison. There were not 600 operatives so I imagine that some very clever technology kept the drones in the correct position in relation to each other – very impressive!
The videos below give a taste of what we saw, although for me the drones looked better on film (or TV) than they did in the stadium.
